I really wished to go to Japan last 2010, I am working for a Japanese company, and sometimes they send some people there for training and for work.
Before 2009 ends there was a rumor that our company will be sending 8 people there to work. The plan I heard was to stay there for 1 year.
How I wished I that I will be included in the magic 8, simple reason, I can have a chance to fully view the changing seasons of Japan.
I went to Japan on the last week of August 2007, summer time, just in time for the Hanabi.
I lived in Shukugawara, Kawasaki for the first three months and another 3 months after in Kozukue in Yokohama. My office was in Shin Yokohama. In 6 months stay I was able to see Tokyo and some surrounding areas.
After the hot summer, maybe hotter than the summer of Philippines, I have experience the the magic of Autumn. How I loved the colors of Fall. We did a one day trip going to Nikko, sad to say the weather was not on our side during that day, but nonetheless the view going to Kegon falls and the Ryuzu falls in Nikko and the Fukiware falls in Gunma are very splendid even amidst the falling rain.
Winter was also new to me, First time for me to experience the falling snow. Being born and raised in a tropical country, the moment the snow fell to the ground I went out to play, wearing pajamas, t-shirt and slippers, well one of my office mate was more daring, he went out in his shorts. I like the snow, I do not like the cold. My apartment then do not have a feet warmer, to warm my feet I wore layers of socks but still not enough. I survive the winter time using the hair dryer to warm my feet, stupid but a nice idea I think, it served it purpose to warm my feet.
I left Japan at the end of February 2008, I saw some flowers blooming, I thought they were Sakura ( Cherry Blossoms) but I was wrong they were Ume ( Plum flowers). I did not see the famous Cherry Blossoms of Japan. This is the one reason I wish to go back.
My 2010 passed I did not go to Japan, obviously I was not chosen to go there. Looking back to what took place I still find it a very good blessings in disguised. Maybe Japan is closer to my heart. At the start of 2010 I was with my good Japanese friend who was a pilot instructor here, who had given me a chance to fly with them on a Cessna Plane.
I got involved with a Japanese Non Profit Organization last 2010. I devoted most of my free time volunteering. 2009 was a year of travel for me, I was able to tour the 3 major islands of the Philippines, I posted most of the pictures I took in a photo blog, the reason is to introduce the Philippines to the world.
2010 since I got involved with the Japanese NPO I still travel but now with another purpose to know and help resolve the poverty problem of the Philippines. This made me read and collect history books and economics books as well.
I consider myself lucky even though I was not able to go to Japan last 2010, I met many Japanese nationals which eventually became my friends.
2010 was a year of international friendship. I met not just Japanese but also some other nationalities.
This year 2011 what I did in 2009 and 2010 it seems they are now going to combine. I am now still able to tour the Philippines and again still volunteer for the NPO and still meet many friends, both Filipinos and Foreigners.
I still wish my company sends me to Japan for free chance of travel :P, but that becomes no priority now. This year by my own power I will visit the land where Cherry Blossoms bloom and also to be able to meet again the good people I met along the way. ^^
