Filipino vs Spanish

¿Cómo está? in Filipino it is kumusta. How are you? On my last travel before the end of 2014, I met a Spanish friend. He told that he can recognized some of the words we Filipinos use.Well I did some little compilations :)

son las cuatro – alas kuwatro (4 o'clock)

The plural form of Spanish becomes the specific name of thins in Filipino such as:

patata is potato,, make it plural it becomes patatas, in Filipino potato/potatoes is called patatas
pera is pear, make it plural it becomes peras, in Filipino pear/pears is called peras
lechuga is lettuce, make it plural becomes lechugas, in Filipino lettuce is called lechugas
rabano is radish, make it plural becomes rabanos, in Filipino radish/radishes is known as labanos

uva is grape, make is plural it becomes uvas, in Filipino grape/grapes is known as ubas
manzana is apple, make it plural it becomes manzanas, in Filipino apple/apples is known as mansanas
zapato is shoe, make it plural it becomes zapatos, in Filipino shoe/shoes is called sapatos

Old Filipino lacks the F, V, Z and some alphabets. So tend to pronounce F as P, V as B, Z as S.
About the vowels we have 5 which are A , E, I, O, U but Filipinos can tends to interchange the
E/I sound, as well as the O/U sound.

I was singing the song I was taught in school N years ago to refresh my memory while typing the above characters.

Now the modern Filipino alphabets are the ones below. We now have 28. Additional of Ñ NG to the English alphabets.

ventilador – bentilador ( electric fan)
jaula – haula (birdcage)

baño – banyo (bath)

singular for baño is el baño if the baño becomes many, it becomes los baños
We have that place in Laguna, so it means many baths because in that area many hot springs

Another place one in Mindoro, the place name is Puerto Galera
Puerto means port
Galera means galley

Looking at the net the meaning of galley means galleon..

ANIMALS:
animal – animal (animal)
conejo – kuneho (rabbit)
caballo – kabayo (horse)
elefante - elepante (elephat)
pavo – pabo ( turkey)

usually these words denotes part of meat, we usually eat..
pecho (breast) – pecho ( chicken breast)
pata (leg) – pata ( pig leg)

lechon – lechon (roasted pig)

cafe – kape (coffee)
azucar – asukal ( sugar)
pimienta – paminta (pepper)

puto seco – seco means dry, about the puto better ask some Spanish speaking people
