Bahay Kubo...Nipa Hut... Pinoy's house

Along the river banks of Smoky Mountain 2 we can view the former Smoky Mountain, now it is a hill with greens.

Smokey Mountain 1 becomes a Hill, What if people will plant bamboo there?
Bamboo can be a source of housing materials and even food.

What if along the riverbanks of the Pasig river, Nipa Palms will be growing?
I wonder if they grew there once upon a time.

Nipa Palms are like Mangrooves they shelter smaller fishes. And the native Filipino Houses are called Nipa Huts. It is a combination of Bamboo and Nipa leaves. There was once a time when housing materials are free, all can be gather from nature.

The draw back of living in Bahay Kubo is that Philippines is visited by numerous storms every year and this houses are easily blown by it. These house are light weight so long ago these types of houses can be transferred to other places if the tenants want to move. This tradition was called BAYANIHAN. People in the community volunteers to carry the houses for transfer, thus the name BAYANIHAN was born. Simply call it People's Power ^^,

  1. Nipa hut is adaptive to the climate of the Philippines because it can withstand hot and stormy weather. Because of its lightweight materials, air can pass easily pass through thus making the inside comfortable for people amidst hotness. Since, it is lightweight and made from indigenous materials, it can be easily repaired and built again.
